Natural Selection, Mutation, Whale Evolution and Design on Porpoise
Natural selection and mutation are not adequate explanations for the macro biological structures we see in nature. A test to determine if macro evolution occurs by these processes is to look at the fossil record to see if it shows organism changing gradually over time. In particular whale evolution has been argued to be apparent in fossil form showing gradual changes from land animals to cetaceans. However, the fossil record does not show the transitional forms to document this case. In addition, there are good examples in cetacean behavior and anatomy to argue for design on purpose, " irreducibly complex" systems that point to a Creator whom we believe is none other than our Lord Jesus Christ. Biology instructor Dave Philipps will show the cetacean fossil record to be an argument AGAINST not for evolution during the 7:00 lecture. Come EarlyAstrophysicist Dr. Jason Lisle (Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder) systematically dismantles Darwin’s claims and shows that the very things Darwin used to propagate his ideas actually undermine them! Dr. Lisle also refutes the dating methods most commonly used to support the evolutionary timeline. Join us a 5:30 for Creation: Science Confirms the Bible is True.
Book Table
Our book table will be open from 6:00 to 9:00 with one of the widest
selections of creation literature available in the southland. There’s
something for everyone from toddler to PhD, from skeptic to
missionary. Books, videos, tapes, magazines... John Arend works very
hard to make a wealth of material available to our members.
Reading good material is just as important, if not more so, than
hearing our lectures. Build your creation library at the Bible-Science
Association. |

Our 5:30 movie, “The Case For Christ”, was a hit. Investigative reporter, Lee Strobel, presented a documentary of his transition from atheist to Christian. Evidence was the key word and Strobel, as an honest atheist willing to investigate the arguments for and against, found the evidences for Christ at every turn to be solid and convincing. This movie is a “must-see”. |

A belief in creation is frequently described as a science stopper. When faced with an incredibly complex natural mechanism, whether biological or physical, it is said those that believe in creation just wave their hands and say “God did it”; supposedly settling the matter in their minds and shutting down inquiry. Evolutionary ecologist Randy Olson, in his film "Flock of Dodos", makes this charge. |

We had over 50 show for the 5:30 film, Hubble Bubble the Big Bang in Trouble; which was interesting; meaning ideas presented may be viable, may not. Physicist Dr. John Hartnett made a fascinating case that astronomers may actually be witnessing creation events that happened thousands of years ago right now given the distance of observed objects from earth. Only time and research will tell but we may never know this side of heaven. |

There is a video clip circulating the internet that has an interviewer asking Richard Dawkins a very straightforward question: “Can you give an example of a genetic mutation or an evolutionary process which can be seen to increase information in the genome?” The response is a very awkward and long pause. Dawkins looks stumped as he hems and haws. Sensing the awkwardness, he tells the videographer to turn off the camera. When the video resumes, so does his usual eloquence. But he doesn’t answer the question. The interview was apparently conducted in September, 1997. |
